Durack is an outer suburb in the City of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia located just 15 kilometres southwest of
the Brisbane Central Business District. Neighbouring Suburbs are Inala and Forest Lake. The suburb has a recorded population of 6,177 as recorded in the 2011 Australian Census. The suburb is named after Michael Durack who is one of the original land owners of the area. The name was given in 1976 when a local newspaper hosted a naming competition.
There are a number of educational facilities in the area. In 1955, Inala State School was opened and is located in Durack and not in the suburb of Inala. They also have Durack Primary School which was known as Serviceton State School before 2001 and Glenala High School which s formally known as Inala State High School. The Australian Interntional Islamic College was opened there in 2002. The residents’ main shopping and sporting facilities are mostly available in the neighbouring suburbs.
