Blocked Drains Durack

Durack is an outer suburb in the City of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia located just 15 kilometres southwest ofDurack and surrounding suburbs the Brisbane Central Business District. Neighbouring Suburbs are Inala and Forest Lake. The suburb has a recorded population of 6,177 as recorded in the 2011 Australian Census. The suburb is named after Michael Durack who is one of the original land owners of the area. The name was given in 1976 when a local newspaper hosted a naming competition.

There are a number of educational facilities in the area. In 1955, Inala State School was opened and is located in Durack and not in the suburb of Inala. They also have Durack Primary School which was known as Serviceton State School before 2001 and Glenala High School which s formally known as Inala State High School. The Australian Interntional Islamic College was opened there in 2002. The residents’ main shopping and sporting facilities are mostly available in the neighbouring suburbs.

The suburb is mostly residential with a number of schools located in the area. It is also one of the older suburbs south of Brisbane and suburbs like this often still make use of hard and brittle pipes made of earthenware that easily crack, allowing tree roots to enter and damage the pipelines, and thus causing terrible drainage blockage. Other causes of drainage blockage are grease, hair, sand and silt, and foreign objects or debris that can’t be properly flushed down resulting in blockage in the pipelines. Since the suburb is also quite populated residentially and with lots of students coming in, blocked drains can be quite a problem.
