Holland Park is one of the older suburbs in Brisbane with mostly post-World War II wooden homes. A number of schools and parks can be found in the suburb and a commercial centre with a selection of restaurants, shops and a public bar. Whites Hill Reserve which is a sport and recreational reserve is accessible from the area where kids can enjoy a huge well-equipped playground surrounded with trees and bushes for a fresh and healthy atmosphere for everyone.
Queensland’s oldest crematorium, the Mount Thompson Crematorium, is located in the suburb as well.
Being one of the older suburbs in Brisbane, areas like these may still be using hard and brittle pipes made of earthenware that easily crack, allowing tree roots to enter and damage the pipelines, and thus causing terrible drainage blockage. Other causes of drainage blockage are grease, hair, sand and silt, and foreign objects or debris that can’t be properly flushed down resulting in blockage in the pipelines. Since the suburb is also quite populated residentially blocked drains can be quite a problem.
