Blocked Drains Kuraby

Kuraby and surrounding suburbs

Kuraby is a suburb of the City of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia which is situated 16 kilometres south-east of the Brisbane Central Business District. The main road connecting the suburb to the city and other areas is Beenleigh Road. The 2011 Australian Census recorded a population of 7, 777 in the suburb.

The suburb is situated between two rivers, the Brisbane River and the Logan River, making its landscape a tad dryer than the other areas of Brisbane. The suburb has a number of parks for sports and leisure with areas that are surrounded by large tracts of native bush that are being maintained by the local council to ensure the survival of native plant and animal species. The Kuraby State School which was opened in 1928 is also situated within bushland areas.

Many families are attracted to the area because of the various facilities it offers like state and community schools, special schools and childcare centres, medical facilities, and a community centre.

In the 1970’s, it was in Kuraby that the first Big W store in Queensland was opened and is now part of the Underwood Marketplace.

Having a variety of private and state facilities, plus a large plot of bushland surrounds, the suburb may experience blockage in their drainage systems. The chief cause of these blockages is large tree roots that can pierce through pipelines causing a disturbance in everyone’s daily routines. Other causes of blocked drains are grease, hair, sand and silt, and other foreign objects that aren’t flushed down completely.
