Mackenzie is a small residential suburb of the City of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia located 20 kilometres south-east of the Brisbane Central Business District. A 20-25 minute drive will take you to the Bribane CBD through the South East Freeway. It has a population of 1, 884 according to the 2011 Australian Census.

The area is partially covered by bushland where Mount Petrie is also located. It is a small and peaceful residential suburb with two churches, a school which is Mount Petrie State School and a petrol station. Though there has been a lot of real estate development that took place in the last decade with hundreds of new houses being built. The neighbouring suburbs are Belmont, Burbank, Chandler, Mansfield, Roshedale, Upper Mount Gravatt and Wishart. Mount Gravatt-Capalaba Road and Gateway Motorway are the major roads that run through the suburb.

With a sprawling greenery of undeveloped bushland, the suburb is naturally surrounded with large trees with big roots that spread underground and can damage pipes in the residential parts. Tree roots are the one of the main causes of drainage blockage since their growth cannot be totally controlled, they can penetrate through drainage systems resulting to severe drainage blockage. Other causes of blocked drains to look out for are grease, hair, sand and silt, and other foreign objects or debris. Make sure to keep drains clean and dispose waste properly to avoid clogged drains.
