Teneriffe is belongs to the inner suburb of the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is located 2.5 kilometres north-east of the CBD and is surrounded by Bowen Hills, Fortitude Valley, New Farm, and Newstead. Prior to this, the suburb has been part of the locality of NewsteadThe population reached 4, 699 residents as recorded by the Australian Census. The region highlights a major transport system which is the Teneriffe ferry wharf that connects the suburb to CityCat and CityFerry services. . It served as an important landmark of wool trading and was once Australia’s largest submarine base during the Second World War. Wool exports increased in the early 20th century marking the region as an essential economic contributor.
Throughout time, most of the wool stores and factories were converted to residential apartments; the area has been altered from a riverside industrial hub to a mostly high density residential area.
